Dorothea is a psychotherapist specialized in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Her approach is informed by her rich educational background, which includes a second Master in Clinical Psychology with focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and specialized training in sexual identity, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and couple therapy. Her approach has moreover been influenced by a variety of working experiences with children, adolescents, and young adults across different countries and with very different backgrounds.

Dorothea’s work is grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theories, which enable her to work creatively with the material that emerges in the moment and to discover together with her clients what lies beyond the surface. She then works with the client to develop the strengths and resources to address current challenges and to cope with them in future. As part of this process, Dorothea often invites her clients to focus on their bodily reactions and to develop somatic awareness. Her broad background allows her to attune to the needs of the clients and, whenever appropriate, she borrows tools from alternative approaches, such as CBT strategies. With young people she also incorporates creative tools, such as drawing, paintings, and games. She believes that talking and non-judgmental listening are powerful tools in the therapeutic process. Dorothea’s priority is to create a safe space where her clients feel free to talk.

Dorothea provides therapy in English, German, and Italian. She works with children (8 years or older), their parents, youth, and adults.
